What is it?

Participants record their walking, running, swimming and biking miles which get pooled together and are displayed as progress on a virtual trip around the earth. Participants receive daily email Earth Walk update travelogues.

There have been two previous EarthWalks.

In early 2004, in a test run, we tried to see if we could get enough participation to walk from Jackson, MS to Health, Arkansas in the Ozarks. Response was so good, we continued on to Freedom, Oklahoma and then as momentum continued to build, we made it all the way to Climax, Canada – all in 28 days!

On January 1, 2005 we launched EarthWalk 2005. 338 people participated and logged over 25,000 miles in a little over two months. They lost nearly 200 pounds as well.

This year we are planning on increasing involvement to somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 participants.

We are asking locally owned businesses to support this effort to build a more healthy community, by becoming a sponsor. Your tax deductible donation will be used to get pedometers to schools and those who cannot afford them. Your company name will be listed as a sponsor on all promotional material.
