Earth Walk Talk

"What a wonderful program! I will send this out to my herb and environmental email lists. And thank you again for all you did to help the people who most needed it here on the Coast. So many people haven’t yet received insurance settlements and FEMA seems to make no sense about  who it helps and doesn’t." b.g.
An idea! Could you separate those on foot and those on wheels? And we can race? And see who gets back home first??? The bikers always jumped the mileage so far ahead that it made the whole event so short... Just a thought. :-) p.l.
FUN!! I can't wait!!! p.l.
"Looking forward to the adventure" d.a.b. & k.c.
"I'm signing up and I'll forward to employees, friends, and relatives" j.s.

I will not be back until the 2nd so i want to have it done and able to come out on the first. It doesn't have to be very long at all. between 100-200 words. thanks!" d.j.

"My tribe is tired of sitting on their behinds pushing paper and key entry on the computer. We are looking forward to getting our hearts pumping and breathing in some oxygen. This will help us jump start our healthy living we are planning for 2006. Looking forward to all the exciting places where we are going," k.b.
"Hi" k.h.
"Are we rocking or what. I am in high energy, changing habit mode and it feels good. So far down 2 lbs and about 3 miles a day - I'll send it in official in a few days. Thanks for doing this." d.l.
"Here is a great site for the resource center, www.thewalkingsite.com " p.l.
"I sure hope that we won't be running into Ninny trouble, since our currently charted course does not run through Niceville, as was stipulated in the narrator release agreement last year..." d.b.
"I work with Nancy Goldman in the Fondren Corner Bldg. and followed EarthWalk last year with her." v.h.
"I still have my pedometer from last year and it works fine. I started using it on Sunday. I am just late signing on. I have been using the pedometer since January 1st. Since Steve and I just gave a check to the Conscious Living Project last month, I will let that suffice for this month. Have had both car insurances due in Jan." j.r.
'To be able to track how far routes are: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com. Thanks! p.l.
"How can I track my progress?"
Editors Note: To see your total miles go to http://www.computercoop.com/earthwalk.htm  and click on the link at the right that says See Individual Total Miles
To see how many of those miles were walked or swum or biked or jogged, click on the link right below it called More Numbers.
The miles are totaled up to the date below the center picture on the EarthWalk main page.
"I forwarded the Earthwalk info to the following email lists:
Fitness Walkers forum at yahoo groups
Daughters of the King forum at yahoo groups
and,
I also posted info in the Beginner's and the Women's forums on the Runner's World message forums and on thewalkingsite message boards.
So far, we have two new members of our CCD tribe from that! We'll see how many more we entice!" - p.l.
"Hey what program are you using to plot the route on the map?" p.l.
Editors Note: Just upgraded from Street Atlas 4 to Street Atlas 6, but may need another solution for areas beyond the US.
Anyone else from Natchez signed up?
Editors Note: Just one person so far signed up from Natchez
"I realized I should have gotten a pedometer from you when I was there since I'm going to want something to see how far I've run when I\'m in El Salvador. I assume I won't have a running track across the street." t.w.
Hello everyone,
I have joined this walking thing called Earthwalk. You sign up and keep track of how much you walk, run, bike, swim, etc - even wheelchair miles. All the miles add up and the group travels around the globe. I am just getting the hang of it. I planMonday to form a "Tribe" called of course, "The Walking Wallies."Pedometers can be purchased at Computer coop fro $5 or other places. You may notice mine on my shoe.Consider joining my tribe and participating. We all need to have a reason to walk just a litttle more. I know I do." e.r.
"Hi-I'm enjoying reading about our journey.  Love the pictures-could plan a quilt, but don't have time to really make it."  l.l.
"Awesome trip so far! I\'m having a wonderful time." s.f.
"what tribe did scott carson join? Hes doesnt have one listed, should everyone be in a tribe, so there miles can help that tribe. If he wanted to join my tribe i wouldnt mind at ALL!! Thanks" d.k.
I am appalled!
I was wondering how Thorlo ( www.thorlo.com ) could (1) sell $15 per pair socks, and (2) could afford to give away $15 per pair socks.
I am appalled that I waited so long to try on my free pair, which I received last week via Earthwalk LLama Express.  These are incredible! They are Level 1 (ultra lightweight protection) - I cannot imagine how wonderful Level 3 (heavy protection) are.
So now I see. These are high-quality footgear, and yes, they should be selling for $15 per pair. And now I understand how they can give a pair away for free: I will be buying more. Hopefully the llamas will be able to catch up." d.b.
"Just had to leave you a note telling you how much I enjoy this Walk.  Love reading your expert documentary on the places that we have visited.  Am really trying to get more miles for the walk but I think my goal is getting exhausted.  Keep it up---I will.         Thanks again---" r.k.
"can you tell me if I am actually registered for the earthwalk?  I signed up before it started...and I'm getting emails...but not sure if I'm actually "registered".  I added mom today using my email address since she's a bit behind the times and has yet to obtain one of her own.  And I submitted miles for myself today...but not sure if it will go through if I am not official.  Keep me posted - and great job on the walk so far, its bunches of fun!" a.b.
"wow.  great stories and photos!" s.w.
"The narrator had mentioned Rainbow needing a Tribe Leader. I don\'t know if Steve is doing it yet, but I would be honored to be the tribal leader for Rainbow. Also. I broke the new pedometer i bought so i guess i\'ll need to buy a third." d.j.
"I will be in to the coop tomorrow to pay 10.00 (to start a new tribe). Also, to pick up some pedometers. I received my free socks also. I had worn Thorlos before when I traine for a marathon. This Pair is so nice. They feel great before you even put them on. Hiking Level 1, I believe. Thorlos has written me back to ask me some questions since I wrote them a long thing about the use of the socks before. Yes, I will buy more of these also. Just to feel them on my feet." e.r.
"Hi!  I felt like I was doing so well until Monday evening when I slipped on the ice and broke my right ankle.  Not much fun!!  I can't drive for 4 to 6 weeks and can put no pressure on my right foot.  They said to walk with the crutches as if I had no right leg.  Bet my doctor never tried it as it is quite a stunt.  Takes me 5 minutes to go from the bedroom to the kitchen! Anyway, I will have to stay in Galapagos for a little while until I can find a way out.  Good luck--I will be all fit for next year"----r.k.
"I think this is wonderful, fun, and innovative way to combine technological advancement with community organizing and increasing health awareness. Congratulations!" a.q.
"
The newspaper person called last week to do an interview of the Empire paperpushers. Unfortunately, many of us have been passing the flu back and forth. Hopefully, we will be over this in less than 2 weeks and can start accruing some miles on the walk." k.b.
"Unfortunately like your system - mine failed this week in that I did not wear my pedometer to spinning and racquetball 3 days last week. Also my pedometer changed from miles to steps without my help so this is a guess. Starting today with 00 miles and hope to stay on track" s.n.
"How are you all doing?  I see the earthwalk is proceeding.  It's amazing how you wrote Rita's broken ankle into it. " l.l.
"Hi! I hope this will get me motivated to walk my 2 dogs everyday. Before too long, I will be oinning the Legal Resources Tribe. Thanks for wonderful program." e.b.
Do I get lunch points for being nice to the reporter and giving her good quotes??? ;-) p.l.
"When I enter my new miles walked, I haven't seen my name listed under the section where you see individual miles. What am I doing wrong??" j.e.  NOTE: It takes a while for the miles to get recorded. The recorded miles are as of the date on the website homepage.
"This year is sooooo much easier for me,by the time it rolled around again I was ready and more than willing to getting started." unknown
"I have stopped running. I am only walking-- I hope to pick it back up". - m.b.
"Thank you. I'm looking forward to being a participant." k.w.
"Love the earthwalk-can't believe how fast we seem to be going, but of  course, crossing Europe is different thatn crossing those desserts in Africa.  Love it." l.l.
"These are miles I ran, biked, and swam from Jan. 8 til today (Mar. 19). I have been busy with moving and settling into my new house and job, so haven\'t been reporting in. Totals are accurate, though--from my training log. Running miles are low because I had knee surgery in December and it\'s taking a long time to heal. Swimming miles are low because I pulled a muscle in my shoulder and was out of the pool for 3 weeks." s.r.
"I was in a car accident on March 24, 2006 and am just starting to try to walk my miles again. It will take a while for my back to heal enough for it not to hurt when I walk alot."l.b.
"Whoever is calculating the points for that April contest obviously knows something about the enneagram." e.i.
